Smart TV Debloat Troubleshooting & Error Fixes
Official solutions for all edge cases documented across 28.2K+ community deployments. Follow these tested solutions to safely diagnose and resolve connection and firmware issues.
macOS Local Network Privacy Blocks ADB Connection
On modern macOS versions (Sonoma, Sequoia), executing adb connect 192.168.x.x frequently fails with "failed to connect to host" or hangs indefinitely.
Solution:
- Open Mac System Settings ➜ Privacy & Security ➜ Local Network.
- Ensure Terminal (or iTerm2) is toggled ON.
- Alternatively, run our official python script tool which utilizes native socket connections to bypass binary permission blocks.
Google TV Setupwraith & Wi-Fi Disconnection Avoidance
On Google TV (Chromecast, Sony, TCL), the setup wizard (com.google.android.tungsten.setupwraith) may own the initial Wi-Fi credentials. Disabling it prematurely can wipe the saved Wi-Fi network and trigger a boot loop!
Pre-Check & Fix:
Check Wi-Fi ownership via ADB: dumpsys wifi | grep -o 'cname=[^ ]*'. If the saved network belongs to setupwraith, open TV Settings and re-join your Wi-Fi before disabling setupwraith.
OTA Firmware Update Drift & Automatic Fix
When your TV manufacturer releases an official system OTA update, OEM bloatware packages may automatically be restored to active status.
1-Minute Re-Debloat:
Simply reconnect your PC and run your model's 1-click batch script again, or run tools/check.py --fix. It will compare the current TV state against your clean baseline and disable all restored packages instantly.
Always Install a Replacement Launcher Before Disabling Stock Home
Never disable your factory default launcher (com.google.android.apps.tv.launcherx or com.amazon.tv.launcher) before you have installed and set up an alternative home launcher like Projectivy Launcher or FLauncher!
